hence, It Feels, a poem.
doobin @ 9:55 AM

I haven't been taking care of myself. and it is getting to a point of dangerous proportions I think. If tonight wasn't a wake up call....

I've never had my heart beat so fast. I scared myself. It's time to catch myself and change my shit around.

The Composition of a Cyalume Glowstick
doobin @ 6:23 PM

interesting. all of the UCI chicks that I know are simultaneously online right now.

talking to Hai, Lynn, Kim, Erin. well trying to anyway.

Erin stopped answering
Kim is probably passed out on Nyquil
Hai is probably on crack somewhere
and Lynn is probably around spinning.

yeah.. most of my 6 Degrees buddy list group is from UCI. go figure!

doobin @ 1:05 AM

So, all this talk about Popples from Theresa, then James, and now Lynn.

Does anyone remember Moncheechee's? The brown furry monkey babies that have the ability to stick their oblong thumbs in their mouths?

fuck popples. its all about the Moncheechee.

So I haven't really been talking about myself and what I've been doing.

Dave told me about this new class at the Tony Tee School of Dance & Music. It's a locking class being taught by none other than the inventor himself, Don Campbell. How fucking cool is that? no no how FUCKING cool is THAT!

After Campbellocking at TTSDM:

normal person: I can lock.
me: sure you can. but I was taught by the inventor of locking.
normal person: *head bows down in shame* I am not worthy.

thats like learning how to paint from da Vinci, like piano lessons from Mozart, like being shown how to scratch by Qbert. (haha I stole your points, Dave)

yeah, that would give me so much clout.
Tuesdays 8:30 pm - 10 pm, $10 a night, but if I sign on for 8 sessions it will be $64. hmmm...

some time to kick it with Dave and possibly Soo also, gooooood deal!

Asians Fight For Reputation
Son Nguyen, Traitor to His Race, Vol.11 Iss.2

A recent study by Asian-Americans for a Yellow America, or AAYA (pronounced ai-yah), an Asian watchdog group, reveals that long-held opinions about Asian men being submissive, feminine, poorly equipped, and “trying too hard to be cool” are on the decline.

Some worry that other cultural factors have been muscling in on the territory of femininity once widely associated with Asian men. “Groups such as the Backstreet Boys and N’Sync have marginalized Asian men by monopolizing media images of male girliness, in effect co-opting a field formerly dominated by Asians,” stated a spokesman for AAYA. “We are currently working on countermeasures, such as creating our own extremely feminine all-Asian boy band. The name of the band will be Five Guys Totaling Five Inches.” So far, AAYA has had little trouble finding potential candidates to participate in the band.

The Asian-American population at large is also worried. Allen Wong, known as AznPlaya to his “crew,” recently helped to publicize an Asian fraternity-sponsored march promoting awareness of the issue, passing out fliers warning BSB and N’Sync that “We’Re oUt to gEt YoU mOTheRfUcKin’ SucKaS. DoN’t FuCk w/ Us.” To promote attendance, the fraternity offered free pearl milk tea.

During the Asian march on the UC Berkeley campus, 2,500 Asian males, dressed in their most babyish blue sweater vests and most wrinkle-free khakis, marched around campus while constantly running their fingers through their long dyed hair and sucking on huge phallic pearl milk tea straws to convey their solidarity. Unfortunately, their cries against BSB and N’Sync went unheard as Americans continued to ignore Asian men.

Asians are gonna beat the living shit out of this reporter. It’ll take five or six of them, but they’ll still beat the living shit out of him.

and Monster Massive? for $40? for this lineup?

shaayyyyyyyyyyydaaayyyyyyy!!

this shit pisses me off. I know Go is just passing off this party as another way to get hordes of newbies into something they don't know about. lackluster entertainment, venue, empty claims ("biggest party of the year"..."will sell out!"), shitty production is what they'll get.

if not MM, I'd be just as down for a weekend of debauchery and hedonism and drunkenness with all the heads at one place.

pop some pills
smoke some bud
pound some beers
get some ass

wouldn't that be a good weekend anyway? fuck Monster Massive! WTP2001 looks better. it claims to be the party that celebrates electronic music and its culture in a unified attempt to rebel against federal crackdowns.. but it really is just another rave. or is it?

and is it just me, or does every single production company/event website have a freaking flash intro? whatever. just give me the stats you idiots. talent, venue, price, rules. simple as that; none of this flash nonsense.

So from 630-1030 earlier tonight, I embarked on one of those brand new experiences: hip hop team tryouts.

new? definitely? hard? not as bad as i thought. actually I wasn't afraid of choreography at all.. learning is as a piece of cake. its the making up and actual directing thats hard as hell.

So how did I do?
I hadn't been that nervous in a long time. My friend Jeff told me in his usual optimistic perspective that it just meant I wanted it that badly. sounded good. and I realize I did. I still do. pity.

It began with the judges stunning the fuck out of the 110+ person field by showing us what routine they would be having us use to audition. it was a phat ass routine, very technical and a lot to remember. I'm pretty fucking proud of myself for learning it and being able to pop it out as sharp and hard as I did. Honestly, I followed every single piece of criteria that they were looking for, as in the sharpness, and I added a bit of flair to it as well. and not many people even did the former succesfully.

64 count routine, took maybe 2 full hours to learn. 110 people standing in lines in Westwood Plaza amongst bewildered bystanders and strangers. I saw a lot of people that were probably like this:

stranger 1: "what the hell is going on here!"
stranger 2: "i don't know but they are all asian."
stranger 1: "that can't be good. thats a lot of asian people at one time."
stranger 2: "and they are dancing."
stranger 1: "it must be an asian dance cult."
stranger 2: "they are taking over Westwood plaza!"
stranger 1: "and are spreading to Ackerman Union!"
stranger 2: "quickly! we have to alert white people with no dancing ability to jump in the middle and disperse the crowd as they would at a party!"
stranger 1: "yes we must!"

They sometimes stood and watched or just walked by, eyes still frozen on this very odd Monday night scene.

I kept up with the true hip hop dancing heads amazingly well. it was my first ever dance tryout, and it was of huge magnitude because ACA is one of the two most popular and difficult hip hop teams, and I had no experience with choreography/counts with the exception of my Dirty PA/Dirty Pop routine from Welcome Week. and I did damn good.

oh yeah I forgot to answer the question even when I asked myself. that just shows the aversion to admitting my failure. so How did i do?

when it came time to judge us, I did what would be expected of me, as a newbie to this scene: I seized up like a rock in front of 100 or so other people including the 6 judges.

oh yeah, thats right, i froze faster than a dick in liquid nitrogen. i suddenly stopped during the middle because I forgot the routine. the routine I had just mastered, just made my bitch, the same routine that I taught other people. what the...

sigh.

but I'm ok with it now. I set out on this hip hop expedition with one goal in mind: to prove to myself if I could pull it off, if I was good enough for a hip hop team, if I could hang with the big boys, the serious playas. and in all honesty, i think i can. yes I believe this to be true, I can fucking hang with those ACA heads. pity that I won't receive the recognition and reward of a spot on the team for it. but who said I was going to accept it anyway? I am a PA after all. an engineer on top of that. a socialite on top of that. time for hip hop team? i dunnoooo.. I would've made time, I guess. but damn, its something that I've at least answered and passed on.

perhaps not being on the ACA team will lead me to better things. I've been recommended to the Korean group. they are all-inclusive says my friend, who is a member, contradicting the beliefs of my roommate. and their style is all in the looks, not the technicality, like ACA. we shall see. I will have my priorities straightened by their tryouts. or will i?

Dave thinks line dancing is not "dancing." I kind of agree. but its fun dammit!

on a fucking cooler note, and something that will undoubtedly lead to better dancing: shaddupanddance.com. I downloaded 20 videos tonight, all of popping. how f-in cool is that? always lookin out Dave. you're a slam dunk daddy.

but on a good note, I went on a binge at Costco today, spending $40 on myself.

Tub of Red Vines
36 pack of Ramen
2 packs of Pacific Gold Beef Jerky
Box of Post Select Triple Cereals
Milk
Tostitos Lime tortilla chips
and oh yes
15 pack of Guiness.

Munchies and munchies galore.

ok I would discuss my rather entertaining and socially bonding weekend, but right now I am preoccupied with hip hop.

and what of it?

FUCK hip hop choreography. dammit, I am so frustrated right now. Hip hop dancing is goddam HARD. the repitition, the necessity of sharp precise movement, the amount of space to fill because the beats are so slow... I just spent the better part of 2 hours trying to make something out of nothing. and it doesn't look like it went anywhere.

I need sleep, I need to learn how to dance, I need some food, I need water, I need to get laid, the list goes fucking on right now.

just get me back to some good house beats and complete freestyle dancing with no repitition or routines and I'll be fucking good.

fuck. 12 more hours before I make a fool of myself.

FUCK.
