I see Staind as today's equivalent of the alt rock emo band for the testosterone enhanced. Issues of love and silly stuff don't really come out here; more personal and possibly deep rooted emotions are poured out via Aaron Lewis. He has a unique voice for the current time, and I believe is one of the most unique vocalists right now because really, he has no singing voice. In those long notes there is a completely flat tone, no vibrato, no fancy octaves, just emotional pouring of words in a tone that matches that of the guitar. And in that simplicity is where it is good. In the most base form, you can't go wrong with matching up the notes of the band with the vocalists voice. And so Aaron Lewis seems to unearth a sound that conveys his emotions completely. The band supports the vocals here. The content makes it seem that way at least. For some reason it makes me think of Kurt Cobain.

As seen in music video Staind - "Fade" @ MTV VMA 2001
They come out, do their piece in full effect, simple lighting, nothing fancy. Then turn around and leave when the song is done. No cursie, no bow, no recgnition to the audience. good stuff.

System of a Down is more like the hard rock metal emo. But more so in the coming of age disturbed youth lashing out through music. The rhythm in this one are catchy especially the drums. dunno, I always liked the well spaced kick drum, snare pop beat. Punk tempo is too fast for me sometimes. Then I thought about the possible interpretation of political connotation. "Self righteous suicide" is a line that sticks out way out there, which relates to the repeated line "when angels deserve to die." That's kind of uneasy. But musicians should use music as their forum. and for that I commend them.

As seen in music video System of a Down - "Chop Suey"
Video is kinda stupid. Song is great though. I always air drum to it.

Side addition to that is that Linkin Park is also like the anal disturbed youth band. But the reason it sounds good is because its true and real. or maybe? That how i think of things. If something is kept real and pure, it demands its own respect and has quality no matter what. and I think they sound good.

Aaliyah would have been THE young adult contemporary musician in the Black community. Coming of age also, mature sound. and although a lot of her songs had sexual connotations, "Rock the Boat" is done in such a way that it hypnotizes the listener with its sexual energy. The video itself matches well with the context of the song. Sensual dancing and nice color schemes, with a surreal type sonic landscape (mellow vocals and echoing). and I think I see nipple. all the time on the yacht scenes. hmmm..

As seen in music video, Aaliyah - "Rock the Boat"

Oh and I just have to mention how I think the choreography in P. Diddy - "Diddy" is pretty dope. While a lot of people criticize Puffy because he is just too much on some stuff, his dancing aint half bad. yeah it looks like he's trying really hard to make up his own style, but whatever, its fun to watch. and simply just six guys in black on white white Adidas track suits against a black background is sweet.

The choreography in Missy Elliot - "One Minute Man" is pretty dope too. A lot of popping in it. Missy hits sharply for a big girl.

I got my Symphony Analysis essay back the other day and a comment that stuck in my mind was this:

"Need bibliography or footnotes, need to know where you got your information. The first page sounds way too polished for a piece such as this."

That refers to the biographical information that I included about the symphony's composer, his life and work. But it implies something else now doesn't it?

I used three sources to find all the information I used, and yes I might've used some of the words used in those sources... it sounded polished yes, but I spent hours consolidating that information. I didn't include most of his life because that would've been too much info. But yea, is using two-three sources for all my information and making it sound professional to the point where it might sound exactly like the sources, necessarily plagiarism??

dammit. 28/30 nonetheless. I wowed them with my analysis of the symphony itself. an actual "Wow!" from the TA.

I had the oddest dream that I and someone else Asian were karoaking in front of a stadium of people, except it seemed like we were more like concert performers rather than karoake enthusiasts. The annoying parts were that I didn't contribute at all, and when I would interject a lyric or two, I would have the mic right up on my mouth and it would cover the sound of the other mic. To this my partner would give me dirty looks. Note, all this time I didn't once look at a screen, yet I knew the words, which were in English.
The killer part came when I did finally look at the Jumbotron screen, and all the songs turned into Chinese. and I felt my heart sink because I couldn't read it. I tried following but I made myself look like a disgraced fool in front of all these laughing snickering people.

I've pretty much agreed that this was a subconscious way of telling myself the "truth" about my lack of Chinese literacy. sad. It really is.

Death Test says I'll be alive until June 27, 2052, when I am 70 years old.

not bad, not bad at all.

except that I'll most likely die from heart attack, cancer, or alcoholism. but who won't?

Bjork - "All is Full of Love" is from the Stigmata soundtrack. That just makes me realize how most of these trippy surreal minor-chord-rich downtempo/trip hop songs almost always appear in somewhat morbid, somewhat sad, somewhat twisted, somewhat uplifting, somewhat soul intensive pieces/films, its exterior image(s) draped in an intentionally dark guise.
i dunno, but movies that come to mind: Stigmata, Requiem for a Dream, Pi, Matrix. they just do.

oh and that ESPN Classic show we were watching was Rollerball. I think I knew it, but didn't remember to associate it with what I was seeing. sooo... yeah. good stuff.

A friend again suffered a post-drizz-stoney laugh attack. I know exactly how to do it now...

add plenty of spirits
let settle, soak, and metabolize
then bake the spirits, at a good 300 deg. F, making sure to add garnish
wait couple minutes, at least, until the garnish is used up.
voila, instant hysterical nut.

I swear it's like he inhaled a tank of nos like it was a breath of fresh air.
nice.

and I was teased by the last five minutes of Requiem for a Dream. right during the "Ass 2 Ass" portion that was so provocative yet twisted and conjured images of erotic horror and sensual pain. I just personified S&M i think.

i had many interesting things to think about today. my mind was wildly active prior, during, and after dinner.

The premise of the movie "The One" is friggin dope: one man in search of every single other version of himself in parallel universes, just to kill them and gain more power for himself, and then he finally meets the "good" version of him, just as powerful? Jet Li vs Jet Li. yeaa thats fuckin dope.

I just realized that we are all a version of Shallow Hal in one way or another. What we see is not always what someone else sees in the same way. What we believe to be true about one person may not be true to another person in the same way. What we hear is probably not the same as what someone else hears. And of course, what we feel about a person is definitely not the same as what anyone else feels about that person.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Sound is in the ear of the beholder.
Love is in the heart of the beholder.
Energy is in the aura of the beholder. (Tee, ya feel me?)

Hal sees a slim beautiful girl. His friends see a behemoth.
I see cute wide-eyed perky breasted nicely curved girl. My friend sees ok Asian. well, until I pointed out her wide eyes, her perky breasts, and her fuckin bomb ass line. But principle worked the same before we saw a profile shot. We talked about how "Full n Round" is the ideal breast. for him at least. I like perky. but can't fade on Full n Round. if I had any two breasts in my face... you wouldn't hear me complaining at all in fact. Perky = fun though. cuz.. perky means uppity and energetic = fun.. right?

riiiiiiight. thats enough for today, honestly.

So I woke up at 200ish to the sounds of the Essential Mix by Sander Kleinenberg from June. Dzuy was editing and separating all the tracks so he could burn it onto CD.
think about that. going through a 120 minute long set, analyzing the mixing, and distinquishing where tracks end and begin.
tedious, yes; detailed, of course; analytical, fo sho; but weirdly I find nothing wrong with that. I'd be willing to do that to put it on a CD. Since I just got Sound Forge I can do that now.

Went for an early lunch at 330ish at Pho Bac Huynh. (yes they have a website. amusing indeed!) yes 330, post-party night makes for a late start. and huge appetites. I lapsed further and further into coma during the scoops of noodle+broth+sprouts+flank steak+oyster sauce as the heat of the mixture calmed the body, as the warmth of the soup excited the then very lax and lazy neurons of my nervous system (I'd like to think that it did). Those magic noodles satiate almost any hunger, any deficiency; pho... is life. >
Heres something new I just thought of.
Theorems on Life.

*notes: => means "implies that"

Drunken Theorem 1.1.1

Alcohol => Drunkenness

Because drunkenness is inherently your body saturated with fluids that depress it,

Drunkenness = Saturation

After metabolising just alcohol, the body needs to offset that metabolizing with other kinds of carbon chains, ie food, and a lot of it

Saturation => a Lot of Food = Munchies

therefore

Alcohol => Munchies.

where Munchies represents a Shitload of Food. In this case it is termed "Drunk Munchies."

Food Theorem 1.1.1

The necessity to eat Food results in the effect of getting "full" after a meal. Hence,

Food => Fullness

Multiplying by a coefficient of "A Large Amount", A Large Amount * Fullness implies that a Shitload of Food is being/has been taken in, that a Shitload of Food has been "Scarfed."

A Large Amount * Fullness = Shitload => Scarfing

A Large amount * Fullness implies Scarfing, but also leads to Heaviness in the amount of Food that was Scarfed down. an exact amount? the exact amount is "Shitload," as stated above.

Scarfing => Heaviness

Therefore,

Food = Heaviness.

Lemma:
By Laws of Comfort and Relaxation:

Heat = Comfort/Relaxation
and therefore
Hot = Comfortable/Relaxed/Soothing
Hot => Comfort/Relaxation
because Hot is a state that implies Heat.

Multiplying both sides by same state of Comfort/Relaxation and replacing variables

Hot*Food = Hot*Heaviness => Comfortable/Relaxed/Soothing Heaviness

Soothing Heaviness on the body means that it has to devote all its energy to metabolizing and dealing with that intake of food. Therefore the rest of the body except the digestive tract is put into a standby state, reminiscent of a "coma." Here it is termed "Food Coma." Therefore,

Soothing Heaviness => Food Coma

and so here we reach the definition that

Shitload of Food = Food Coma.

Ok, so using Drunken Theorem 1.1.1 with Munchie Theorem 1.1.1 gives us
Drunken Theorem 1.1.2, where

Alcohol => Munchies = Shitload of Food = Food Coma

aaaaaand I'm spent. I started this thing at 535. it took me almost two hours to finish the proof. but I had little stuff I wanted to touch up on.
