Mental Morning ...... ~0630am ......
some artists don't like playing at dinner parties because then they feel like they are servants. but if you think about it, we all serve music already. - Yoyo Ma, on KUSC
It seems like.. we are all servants to something. We do things and worship whatever it is we worship because we believe in something that exists on a higher plane than mere humanity.
Humanity is so physically finite, each man and woman coming and going. But, humanity's legacy has proven to be what it leaves behind in its wake: knowledge, rational thought, products of the mind and soul. Its interesting to note that human aren't completely arrogant if they fall victim, servant to ideas of power, money, knowledge, art, music, peace, spirituality, medicine, etc.
then again, all these things are technically products of humans.. if so, then we worship things that come from us, thus.. worshipping ourselves as the higher being who creates such timeless things. if not, then ok, I can see how something external and distinct from us would get so much attention.
odd, something foreign and distinct, either gets placed higher or lower than us, but never equally, where 'we' are humans.
yes no?
