today felt like one of those Family Circus cartoons where Timmy (or whoever the oldest son is) traverses maybe a couple blocks in an absolute morph of a simple path across the street.

except.. yeah I didn't really have a destination. So instead of manipulating, I was creating. very good.

So after spending some time as an gangster anarchist manifested in Grand Theft Auto 3, I cruised down to the student union and revered in the orange chicken commoditization of my culture. Thanks to orange chicken and boba, we are finally recognized for our cuisine! man, and because of my ignorant nature, I've bought right into it

There was an anti-Valentine sale down at Ackerman Union. Noticing that it was almost 5pm and I had yet to set foot on campus, I bothered to cruise and check it out. There was a backpack I wanted there that woulda gone great with a skateboard, but.. only had i gotten the board.. or the bag. I think it got sold a while ago.

I didn't realize how badly the Bruin Store could become in its commercialization, but the presence of a Red-Tag clearance and ransacked tables of cotton goods were testament to the fact that indeed UCLA is a brand. I hear people in Japan wear it simply because of their infatuation with English letters, just like Americans and their infatuation with non-English writing.

Here's where I started to observe my own subconscious tastes and interests.

in the midst of bobbing my head to the Chemical Brothers' new album (burned, Prerelease, via AG), I ventured to the magazine section and flipped through XXL and the words of the editor professing his ability to push his feature to the cover story, this month being Wu, and his mag to the limelight.
Next to EGM to look at reviews of my newest addiction, GTA3.
Then to browse the landscape painting type poster rack.
Somehow I ended up in the books, so I figured, why not browse for somethind I'd be interested in? Chi/Ki here I come. I only found Buddhism/Zen, which is coo, but I'm not looking for enlightenment on enlightenment, I want to read about energy and the span it encompasses.
I turned the corner and found a shelf dedicated to Metaphysics. nice. I grabbed an Intro to Methphysics book (with a sleek grey brushed texture almost plastic cover) and found a stool to sit on in the corner. Let me just say that some of these people probably don't take drugs to expand their mind, and yet they are beyond the scope of anything I could ever have touched my abstract fingers on. It took a lot for my haze-induced mind to zone in on the deepness of the subject matter, but I found that the generalities of what metaphysics deals with are simply more developed and detailed explanations of very 'tangible' thoughts. Realism vs Anti-Realism is indeed a new focus me as of late.
Found a copy of what I would later purchase, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig, introducing to me the idea that the perspective seen is not exactly the perspective intended in stories. The reader only sees what the narrator sees, usually first person in a certain character, but maybe the author intended a different perspective for the reader, seeing that same character from a different view. A heroin won't be seen as a vampiress because what the reader sees in her eyes is worthy of a heroin, but in reality she might be an evil bitch from the eyes of an outsider. Unfortunately this can cloud the reader's reaction, but fortunately, it provides different views to be seen.
I found myself dancing in the middle of the Greek Mythology section.
Found interesting materials in the Poetry/Shakespeare section, including a fine gift for a friend. Realized that Vietnamese poetry loses its essence when taken out of the native tongue. But it the published product was really nice.

Quick change of music to Parks & Wilson "Painting in Silence" (disc 2), and I was off back to the hill.

non-productive, but equally entertaining and enlightening.

Time really has no presence right now, as it has been almost three hours since starting this entry. except that I know its Massage Time. and Math time. and Physics time. and Computer Science time.
