yo shnicka

yeah, i finished final #2 today. It went.. better than I could've hoped I guess. Not that I was hoping for a miracle (so maybe I was) but I was expecting myself to just get blown away by a test I was NOT prepared for. or at least wasn't as prepared as I could've. I was very disappointed in myself for not cracking down hardcore like I had planned. I know I had given up for about four weeks, and I vowed to bounce back, but really, if I look at the weeks following, I didn't really pull a complete 180. maybe a 135. I managed to get back on the ball and initiate good habits, but I still succumbed to minor distractions, dismissing priorities and goals that I had supposedly set in stone, but was able to sand blast with my lack of willpower.

Today, I got lucky, fucking lucky that I still have some skills of deduction at my grasp, else I would've flunked that test for sure. and thank god I made that cheat card. I don't think a 3x5 card ever meant more than it did for those three hours.

and although I didn't think I did too shabby on that test.. I can't shake the distant fear that I just might not pass this course. or my comp sci. OR my math. what then? to have to take every single class of a quarter over again would be an absolute waste. not only that, I'd be close to being expelled. dangerously close. That's a far fetched result, but not entirely impossible. and so it remains conscious in my fantastical head. kind of scared I am. I guess the fear of a possibility won't strike my heart until it's turned into a reality, in which case, i'm fucked.

and hey, good luck on your shit too.

late.

Hey, pluck yew, good buddy
........

The origin of the perennial term "fuck you" explains that it was a mocking phrase when used as "pluck yew," and that the change to a "labiodental fricative" 'F' changed the meaning of "Fuck you" from an intimate one to that of anger.

so watch out when you yell with those two words, you are actually coming onto them. as if you didn't know though.

what if the theme ingredient on Iron Chef was marijuana?

I can just imagine the show. the tasters would gradually start to like everything even more. I've seen cakes being made before, they can bake with marijuana.

hmmmm....

Sweet Redemption
........

The first #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament fell today. to who? to fuckin WHO?

UCLA baby. Yeah I don't really post about ball. I haven't followed consistently in a while. but doesn't make me any less proud.

"College hoops' perennial #1"

and funny how we don't hear shit about the Women's tourney eh? what, women play ball? hey just kidding, ladies. its just funny that there seems to have to be a women's ESPN in order to cover women's sports. all the ESPN commentators were women, and they seemed to make some weird statements, like weird in logic. Men just don't want to bother talking about women's sports. that's pretty much it.

Iron Chef: PORCINI Battle
........

How good does the food look from this show?! champion chefs battle, utilizing their stainless steel weapons and infinite armaments of spices and garnishes and whatever, creating these seemingly unfathomable dishes for culinary war on the senses. Sight, Taste, Smell, Texture; Four out of Five senses being attacked. No wonder food is not just to be eaten, but experienced. perhaps this is the philosophy of cooking that we laymans are oblivious to.

PORCINI BATTLE:

Today's battle faced a Naples Pasta Champion (who cooks in Japan) (and the Naples contest is once in ten years), challenging Iron Chef Morimoto, Japanese specialty (who works in NY)

The ingredient: Porcini, an Italian mushroom, rarity this time of season.

I can't even describe the dishes. aesthetically astounding and mindnumblingly attractive to my taste buds. If not for actually watching the chef's create their dishes, I wouldn't have thought this was food. its like art. that looks like it would taste sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. if only TV had a scent button. interactive please? just a sniff...

some quotes from tasting:

for Marco:
"Perfectly prepared"
"Truffles, Quail, Porcini, all strong elements, which harmonize perfectly"
"At first I wanted to stop, but after the third taste the aroma hit me, and when i thought about stopping, I couldn't put my hand down. This is a mysterious soup"
"You interconnect the roles of the ingredients, like a rainbow of taste, impressive."

for Morimoto:
"The sourness is pleasant"
"The slight bitterness is nice, a dish to be proud of"
"I am out of words to describe the flavor I taste."
"After 30 years of travelling to Japan, these are THE best noodles I have ever eaten. I have never had noodles like these...... Those noodles were the very best, even after I go back to Italy, I will not forget them"

The winner:
Challenger Marco, the last Pasta Champion of the 20th Century, first Porcini Champion of the 21st.

Upon victory, he threw flour into the crowd and wrapped the Italian flag around his shoulders like it was the Olympics. right on.

Genius or Retard?
........

So since I got a chance to burn that day (hey, I had to make sure the canabin was good to go), I got a chance to go off on wild subconscious tangents.

[:dooby::

I think intelligence has an on/off button. Like when we talk in everyday life. Depending on the person we converse with, we also vary the way we speak. One minute we'll be dorky and immature and devoid of any collective intelligence, like we were straight out of the womb, and the next we are bold and collected and able to speak in an educated manner. And you know its true. None of us are always on our most "proper" all the time (unless you were in a phase or something). Which means it is conscious, or sub-conscious, because we do it without really noticing it. anyway

If there is an on/off button, could there not also be 'volume control,' meaning there was also a measurable level of intelligence? Or at least, with this level came different traits that supported it. Each person's genetic makeup is unique to themselves, therefore the 'intelligence meters' are different. Some come with it preset, some can turn more smarts on, some don't, some can't. and since we seem to have control over knowing when to talk like an adult (lets say in the presence of authorities or a foreign minister or the pope) and just shootin the shit with your friends, we should be able to control how long to keep it on. this explains genius'. which implies the rest of us are idiots who don't use their minds to their full potential.
