what suddenly i'm Mr Popular?
so Mr Popular has been getting approached by certain people asking about certain things about him, namely things that He's said to other people, things that wouldn't have normally been known to general public. so when Mr Popular is approached he is apprehensive about the source of the information, and gets insecure because where the hell did these people hear these things? Apparently, Mr Popular is the subject of conversation elsewhere. which is a good thing. usually. until they start to talk shit!
and thats when Mr Popular turns into Mr Will Kick Your Ass into Praise Talking Submission!

Monday.
......
as always, today was a good day. in fact, today was a good and funny day.
after waking early at 0830am to finish a homework assignment, i stalled until 1045am.
Finished and ran off to class at 0337pm, and got there 0348 (class started at 0345), but was fortunately two minutes early for class to start.
after learning about the Second Law of Thermodynamics and how it limits the direction of a process (as opposed to the First Law which professes equilibrium and arbitrary direction), I took a quiz and submitted my homework (which unfortunately omitted two problems).
(0600pm) Upon walking down from South Campus, I reached Pauley Pavilion when I abruptly turned around to go back towards a distant booming soundsystem.
"What is that" I asked my friend Tony.
"dunno" he replied.
"well lets check it out" I insisted.
stepping into Bruin Plaza, it was obvious what was going on.
Freshman Orientation barbeque.
We ran into a friend who was an orientation counselor, procured two meal tickets, and proceeded to crash the event. Camoflauged in student gear and young Asian faces, we blended in perfectly. too perfectly. Catered food, familiar faces, many UNfamiliar faces made for a laugh. I was reminded how cool orientation was and how much I myself wanted to be a counselor because that period of time was the most happy and carefree of all. I saw the kids playing frisbee and dancing and eating and frolicking and reminisced of Session 105, 2000. oh what a happy time, I remember how I would jock all the girls and ask for their email addresses. and I'd get em too. >.As an on the fly kind of thing, I went back up to Rieber with Tony so I could visit some people on the 7th floor. specifically Shannon, Abe, Raman, whoever else (Kyung, Vic, Sam, Viral). Random visits are the best, for me AND them. unplanned anything has oddly become the choice of action that makes me the most comfortable.
(0700pm) I caught them watching a movie and joined to watch the second half of the WORST MOVIE EVER: Scary Movie 2. just... STUPID. well some parts were funny.. but just insanely tasteless. made for cheesy laughs though. And since it was dinner time and I was at the dorms...
Rieber Dining Hall! second meal in two hours, very nice.
(0800pm) After dinner Raman, Viral and I made a trip behind Saxon and visited Egypt in the moonlight.
I left the dorms feeling very refreshed and relaxed from my First Bowl of the Day (FBD). it was Lovely! this time I felt an incredible body high versus an explosive head change. good ol Raman. numbed enough without loss of feeling, but slightly enough to stimulate the senses, I felt empowered, energetic, confident, aware, calculated; I felt good, really good. the way one should feel after a bowl and a long day. I deserved some freedom!
I forgot how cool and special the FBD could be. From now on I will try not to have one without a nice experience to use it for. Like a long walk!
From the dorms, I took extended detours around the Westwood apartments while I walked about in a hazy dreamlike state. Hypnotized by house beats via Donald Glaude Essential Mix (061502), my body was crackling with the potential energy of rhythm and dance. too bad the kinetic energy of walking didn't convert. and where was the enthalpy change? there was none, less you consider me getting hotter by the second... woooo! (sorry that was a lame Thermodynamics joke.)
I don't recall what I think about on my stony treks around UCLA. Usually I really don't think; I take in the sights and enjoy my brisk nighttime surroundings by observing everything around me. Sometimes I think of abstract subjects on the universal or the surreal tip, but more often than not, every waking moment is spent visualizing a silhouette of a dancing figure, popping and stepping to the beats resonating in my clouded head. By now, I have a beat so ingrained in me that I will dance with no music. or move about in odd swaying ways at least (i'm trying to get the Glide, dammit!).
Somehow I ended up at my apartment and almost passed it without realizing. but I didn't go in. Nay, I stayed outside for maybe half an hour, waiting for a specific track to drop in the Glaude set. sure I might have looked like a visitor that was never let into a complex, or some hoodlum, but OH WELL. I didn't want my freedom to end that night, but alas, I had to return home.
I noticed my comments were wittier and somewhat clever and creative. I greeted people with imagination and playfulness. Now that I look back, I attribute that to my relaxed and open state from the previous two hours. yeah so the high lasted two hours, and a good time it was.
So ends the good and funny day, at 1100pm.
I passed out on the couch with my legs dangling off the edge for an hour. after waking and noticing my odd position I moved to the bed. good night it was.

i can't escape the fact that I'm consciously writing (eh.. albeit consistently) for only a couple people to read. that, at the core, is the main reason why i'm blogging right now. it's what has driven me to sit and type for hours on end. to try and convey all the thoughts and feelings that i possibly can so that the readers may procure something out of it and gain a better picture of me as my mind ages another couple weeks, months, year. man that was like four prepositions there (to...so...to...as).. ok fixed (second to -> and).
my point.. well thats my driving force, for only a couple specific people to be able to keep track of me. I really don't know how many people look at this mass of words and odd period placement, nor, ironically, do i care. (well i do care, so long as i am able to pay tribute and give back to the person, meaning make yourself known!
......
i hope the duck fares well in its last week. crazy universal force, i beseech you to let things flow around the duck so it can swim around freely and without hindrance. please allow it the time it needs to clean itself, to quack quack its love, and to splash around a little. hopefully its yellow hasn't turned to a burnt brown. but i bet it looks hot anyway.

know whats cool? surfing your temp music download folder and unknowingly finding these:
Miguel Migs - Satisfied (old skool flava mix)
- groovin house! the guy associated with "Naked" House music. sexy wooo!
Soulstice - The Reason (DJ Spinna mix)
- a pretty common thing now, and every piece sounds sweet! always a good combination, hip hop beats overlayed with (downtempo) house vocals. esthero, morcheeba, now soulstice are being sampled/remixed quite heavily now.
Luke Slater - Twisted kind of Girl
- off new album. sounds gritty as fuck
Circulation - Lime (silicone soul hypno house mix)
- hypno house... right. its a good ass house track. plus this is Silicone Soul, a reaaaaly good house outfit, remixing a good progressive house group/band/whatever.
Hooverphonic - 2Wicky
- classic trip hop track, group is usually downtempo, anything from dnb to downbeat, with nice vocals.
Ink Operated - Vancity Reign
- I can't keep track of the lyrics here. tite track!
I'd link these, but i have no where to link them to, now that AG is gone. try Soulseek or Filetopia. actually, use Soulseek. find me: "tushort"

bulgagi or bust!
......
so who scored on lots of cheap groceries and nifty novelty korean items yesterday? this guy did.
bunch of stuff from bulgagi (rib eye) to korean ribs to groceries (EVERYTHING was .99/lb or less! ie carrots 3 pounds for .99!) to odd little korean drinks and snacks to spicy condiments to lots of good fruit = a happy waylan.
novelty items this time:
"Aloe" - this little 8.5oz drink containing aloe, aloe very gel, water, citric acid, sugar that tastes like gummi and has pieces of (i guess) aloe floating in it. reminds me of soju bottle
"Milksi" - a milky citrus soda, smells like skittles, tastes like lemony orange julius. looked like fresca or squirt but was and is OH so much more.
"Pocari Sweat" - "ion supply drink, good for athletic activity, physical labor, after hot bath, or get you started in the morning!"; the can looks cool with the bilingual print.
RICE. korean rice that i guess absorbs water really well because it comes out sticky no matter how much water you use.
......
so, check out Assi Market on 8th and Oxford!
you don't have to speak Korean or anything, even though the cashier may make you look like a fool when she asks you to put the watermelon on the conveyor and you think she asked for your credit card! happy shopping!

good times.
......
wake n bake breakfast/brunch of eggs and bbq pork, cereal, and greens
midday snack of lamonicos!
(Jesse, Joyce, Dzuy, Vanson)
chillin on melrose!
(dzuy, Vanson)
punk rock music!
I've never seen a punk show so wild. Goldfinger revved up the crowd until there was a 500 person pit. Craziness. Here in my bedroom, Mable, Miles Away, Superman, some others I didn't know. One of the best hours I've had there. And I wasn't even in the shit of it.
(Chris, Sara, Elaine, Grace)
house partee @ jeromes!

Friday.
......
i figured out how people who smoke a lot because of high tolerances spend their days: AS ROCKS ON THE COUCH.
i haven't been dumbed and sedated in a very long time and man did it suck to not be able to think coherently and have active conversation. or activity in general. well suck and kick ass at the same time, because it was almost dreamlike and ethereal when we laid out. just lying like seals on rocks.. beautiful seals.. or seal lions? or like those rocks.
......
a stanza, if you will:
laying ashore like the pin-nosed seals of wharf lore
wisking whiskers among egged blue yonder and fogged wonder galore
basking upon swedish rocks and futon docks with cushioned floors
risking esposure of side hide profiles to sea lion's explosive roor
......
Highlight:
"Want to go to a show tomorrow? Goldfinger somethingsomethingblahblah."
my senses deafened at the mention of the name and the reality of the situation.
the time of reckoning is at hand! I have waited more than four years for the moment.
Goldfinger, I beseech you!
......
Highlight II:
b-pong and jungle juice
drunken wailing of Little Mermaid songs at the corner of Barrington and Chenault
accompanying a third wheel so the first and second wheels could get their mack on
"have you ever tried crystal meth?"
"being a bitch"
jesse, joyce, dzuy, marc, cathy, alva, Judith, chris, sara, verica, chris, aurelio, pete, james, david, Johnson, ling, and many more random others.

[Thursday Late night::]
i finally got that paper done on funk. maybe i'll post it, but only after its suitable for reading. too bad i missed class to finish it. but no matter i got it in on time. hopefully the intellectual analyses of certain social and cultural aspects will help, but now i think I didn't analyze the music itself very well. i really shouldve read over some old music essays. oh Brahms where art thou?
the day is done, and so am i!
peace love and many beers or bowls to you.
